It goes without saying that the young owners of this apartment are more than in love with the epic but to translate it into a gorgeous home that is still inviting exciting and unique definitely takes some doing. The open plan living area is filled with a bright yellow couch that provides an otherwise neutral space with plenty of color while Darth Vader masks throw pillows and other action figures from the Star Wars universe instantly reveal the theme of the room.
While the public spaces seem far more transitional the bedroom and bathrooms completely embrace cool contemporary style with minimal décor and a white and gray color scheme. Beautiful blue accents a floating wooden vanity in the bathroom and a shower area with penny tiles add visual contrast even as cleverly placed artwork and wall murals in the kids’ room usher in a hint of bright color.
Designed by Toronto-based firm Ian MacDonald Architect the silhouette of the cabin is intentionally kept modest and low-lying to ensure that it blends in with the landscape that surrounds it. In fact those visiting the cabin can only sense its presence as they climb up the dock that leads to the structure.
The two independent buildings are connected by a common patio and pool area and the living area of one is visually connected with the other using sliding glass doors. Even though both houses seem similar from the outside they present an entirely different look as you step indoors.
It is the glittering dining room that undoubtedly ends up being the showstopper of these transformed spaces with its silky chandelier vintage-inspired Orchidea cabinets and the silver and black Nanook Chairs from KOKET. But all these seem to only play second fiddle to the two diamond dust paintings of Marilyn Monroe and that should barely come as a surprise to anyone!
